Sci-fi fans will no doubt be disappointed to hear that the Lord of the Rings-style creature was in fact an actor filming an advertisement.
The news was confirmed by Beijing’s police after the star posted pictures of himself posing in the costume.
They said: “This was an actor wearing a costume. He was filming an advertisement.”

This is a repost because, despite this photo being clearly debunked over 2 years ago, I’m still running across paranormal sites out there trying to pass it off as a real picture of a genuine cryptid. It ain’t, so just stop it.
I feel sorry for the poor actor in the picture. The guy was just trying to relieve himself in peace and innocently became a world-wide “hoax”. I don’t blame the tourist who took the picture. If I came across this guy and didn’t know a commercial was being filmed, I‘d probably freak out, too. But now that the truth of the picture is out there it really needs to stop being circulated as real.
