What is The Holy Ghost?

What is the Holy Ghost? Is he the “third person of a triune Godhead” like the church world teaches? Or is he a spirit? If he is a spirit, then whose spirit is he? What is the gift of the Holy Ghost? If the gift of the Holy Ghost is something one should have, then what must one do to receive his own gift of the Holy Ghost?
