Between the years of 1909 and 1913, French medium Eva Carrière held seances in an attempt to make contact with the dead. She changed her name from Marthe Béraud when the psychic performances she held were called out as fraud in 1905.
Surprisingly enough, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of Sherlock Holmes, believed she was a genuine medium who could communicate with the recently deceased.
