The Bassenthwaite Lake Eachy Monster

Bassenthwaite Lake is one of the largest lakes in the English Lake District. It is long and narrow, approximately 4 miles long and .75mile wide, and about 70ft deep. It is said to be home to the ‘Eachy’ which is a name given to a species of lake monster from a variety of locations in Northern England. An Eachy was typically a large humanoid being of gruesome and slimy appearance which occasionally emerged from the lake. It was first reported in 1873 and the following reports from the 20th Century. The latest reports however talk of a Loch Ness monster type creature, more sea serpent than humanoid.
